Shortcuts and Siri

App Intents for new notes, dictation, text capture and opening notes, with Siri phrases, for the Shortcuts app and automations.

Updated for iOS 1.65

Shortcuts and Siri

Design Intent: Antinote as a step in your own automations.

Actions

  • New Note, New Note with Text, New Note with Keyword, New Note from Audio, New Note from Image, Open Note, Open Antinote, Dictate into Note, Capture Text from Camera — and, without opening the app, Add to Note, Add to Current Note, Get Note Contents, Get Current Note and Find Notes. The last five hand their results back to the next action, so a shortcut can read a note, change it and write it somewhere else.
  • Replace Note Text and Delete Note act on the note on screen. Delete Note sends it to The Void or deletes it permanently; given a slot number, it clears that slot instead, since slots can't be deleted. If either can't finish — a read-only note, an empty slot — the step fails with the reason. Other apps can do the same through URL schemes.
  • Siri phrases include "New note in Antinote", "Add to my grocery list in Antinote", "Add to my current note in Antinote", "Read my grocery list in Antinote", "What's in my Antinote note", "Find notes in Antinote", "Open my grocery list in Antinote", "Dictate a note in Antinote" and "Scan text into Antinote". Name a note by its first line, as in those examples, and Siri finds it — locked notes stay out of reach.
  • Siri knows which note is on screen, so "add this to the note on screen" and "read the note on screen" act on it.
  • Shortcuts and Siri are part of the Lifetime license. The iPad key commands are free — see Keyboard shortcuts.

Home Screen quick actions

  • Press and hold the Antinote icon on the Home Screen for New note, New note from audio and Search. Each opens the app straight into that action, the same way the widgets do. The list is fixed for now.
