Special keyboards
Antinote swaps the keyboard for the job: a math keyboard with ans, units and variables, a format keyboard, a keywords keyboard, a timer keyboard and a selection wheel.
Updated for iOS 1.65
Special keyboards
Design Intent: A phone keyboard is small. Instead of hiding math and formatting behind modifier keys, Antinote swaps the whole keyboard for the job at hand.
Switching keyboards
- Tap a keyboard's Quickbar button to bring it up; tap it again to return to the normal keyboard. One shared "Back to keyboard" exit floats above the bar for every special keyboard.
- A keyboard button can also be a gesture or an iPad key command (⌘⇧= for the Math keyboard, ⌘⇧F for Format, ⌘⇧I for Timer, ⌘⇧K for Keywords, ⌘⇧W for the Selection wheel).
On an iPhone turned sideways
- Every special keyboard folds to a shorter height so a few lines of the note stay in view: the Format keyboard becomes two scrolling rows with delete, return and a tall space fixed on the right; Keywords and Timer lay their tiles in two rows that scroll sideways; the Math keyboard keeps its five columns with shorter keys; the selection wheel shrinks. Turn the iPhone with a keyboard up and it changes shape on the spot.
Math keyboard
- A calculator grid (7 8 9 ÷ ⌫, 4 5 6 × space, 1 2 3 − return, Vars 0 . + =). The decimal key follows your region.
- The top row starts with
ans, the previous answer (renameable in Settings › Editor › Previous answer word), then parentheses, two currency slots (USD and CAD to start), two measurement slots (kg and m) and a currency-symbol slot. - Tap a slot to type its unit; press and hold it to pick another. Tapping a second unit types the " to <unit> =" tail, so a conversion is two taps.
- Return on a note with no keyword turns it into a
mathnote and finishes the line with "=". Pressing = after a calculation drops the cursor onto a fresh line. - Vars drops the keyboard and lists the variables in this note — tap one to type its name at the caret, with a space before it if the caret touches a character and always one after — and can add a "name: value" line that defines a new one, on a line of its own.
Format keyboard
- Five rows: Header 1–3 and Code block; Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough; Highlight, Code, Checklist and List; Numbered list, Cycle list type, Outdent and Indent; Move line up, Move line down, Go to line start and Delete line; plus Delete, Space and Return down the right edge.
- One-shot keys (a header, bold) return you to the normal keyboard after firing; line operations keep the format keyboard up.
Keywords keyboard
- One row per keyword with what it does: list, math, sum, count, avg. Tap a row to put that keyword on the first line ("Activated …"). See Keywords.
Timer keyboard
- Countdown presets by the minute, two pomodoro presets (25 · 5 and 50 · 10), and Pause, Resume and Stop for a running timer. See Timer.
Selection wheel
- A wheel for moving the cursor and growing a selection by characters, words or lines, or jumping to the front or end — precise selection without a trackpad. Part of the Lifetime license.
