List

Type list on the first line and every line becomes a checklist item. Headings and comments stay as they are.

Updated for iOS 1.65

List

Design Intent: A to-do list should cost one word, not a template.

Using it

  • Type list on the first line (optionally followed by a title: list: groceries). Every non-empty line after it is a checklist item.
  • Headings (#) and comments (//) are never items, so you can break a list into sections.
  • An item you empty out loses its box once you move on, and any empty boxes left behind (the one you were on when you closed the app, say) are cleaned up the next time the note opens.
  • Tap the box to check an item, or type the Check tag (/x) at the end of the line.
  • Checked items stay, move to the bottom or are deleted according to Settings › Editor › Lists › When checked.
  • A built-in Lists Quickbar carries Outdent, Indent, Move line up / down, Cycle list type, Move checked down and Delete checked items. Swipe the Quickbar up to reach it, or let it switch in by itself on list notes (off by default — see The Quickbar).
  • Widgets can follow a list: the To-do widget shows the next unchecked item of the note you choose. See Widgets.
